Magic in the Images

Possibly the single-most important part of a photographer's website, is the images. Our sites rely heavily on visuals. People are hiring us to create a vision. It is a service we offer each and every one of our clients.

Our digital portfolios should be stuffed to the brim with the work that best represents our vision, or the way we see things. We need each image to speak a different story to our viewers in order to communicate properly the given scene.

For this reason, It is important to remember that the person in our photograph is not usually the subject but is rather the subject matter. The subject is the idea or concept being communicated by the subject matter, for example, love, beauty, strength, family, etc. Our images need to incorporate subject matter which may best describe the overall subject of the photo. Often times we allow too much subject matter to clutter our images, making it much more difficult to communicate the entire story. Remember, more often than not, in photography, less really is more.

Of course each image includes a story, whether described through emotion, lines, shapes, locations, it is always up to our own discretion to tell the story how we see fit. It is, after all, your vision. Whatever elements you choose to encompass that story, is up to you.
